My favorite way to paint is from life, be it figure or still life. Still life allows me to paint in such a way that satisfies my need to create something unique from the ordinary. I can use my formal training to achieve interest through the elements of design along with my ability to employ realism as a style. It can be very tedious, but rewarding. On the other hand, the figure allows me to be a little freer in my application technique. While oil is my medium of choice, I have been experimenting with acrylic and ink.
I graduated from the
University of
Southern Mississippi in 1988 with a general art degree. At that point, I had a pretty good background in drawing and design, but had never painted, which was something I desperately wanted to do. In 1999, I decide to go back to school. In 2003, I graduated from the
University of
South Alabama with my degree in painting.
